DBA SOLO

DBA Solo is a little program I wrote in BASIC to help me play DBA games solo. I could have come up with a more imaginative name I suppose. Any suggestions?

The program is intended to be run on your Mac/PC next to your game board - it is not a complete game, but an aide. Essentially what DBA Solo does is helps to randomise the initial set up of your game, including terrain and enemy deployment and help to control the enemy, rolling for PiPs and choosing tactics as well as an option to choose a tested breakpoint. It should be fairly self-explanatory to follow but if you use it and have any problems, please contact me.

You are still responsible for moving elements around and rolling dice for combat but where the program helps is in deciding upon the enemy tactics for you and optionally testing morale for army break (as opposed to the standard 4 element rule).

The rules used have been based upon DBA 2.0 and the tactical 'engine' created by Chad Le Mons and posted on Fanaticus

I used METAL. a great free BASIC package on the Mac to create this program.

Will Johnson kindly took the gubbins and did a quick conversion to create an exe file for Windows users. Please consider this to be version 1.0 as I think some of the random numbers might need tweaking to work properly.

I haven't posted downloadable files like this before so I hope this works;

Download the Mac version of DBA Solo (176k .sit)

Download the PC version of DBA Solo (348k .exe)

If you feel like tweaking the BASIC, perhaps to 'pretty up' the Wndows version (the Mac one is much nicer to look at) download the text here.

I hope you enjoy it. If you have ideas for improvements, comments etc, please email me.
